My Fair Lady (13) by Warren Schultheis

$20.00

“My Fair Lady (13)” is a piece in an ongoing series that poses questions about the nature of celebrity identity, using digitally distorted photographs of Audrey Hepburn. In this image she is not immediately identifiable, but the mood of the original photograph remains even though it’s ‘subject’ is suspended in a sort of suggestive abstraction. This work complicates the question of ‘how identity occurs’ from different contextual directions; cultural, personal, and aesthetic – by creating conflicting senses of ease and dis-ease with an amorphous but seemingly human subject matter.
